Surge Protection Device (SPD)

A Surge Protection Device (SPD) protects solar systems from transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes, grid switching, or power surges. In solar PV systems, SPDs are installed on both the DC side (solar array to inverter) and AC side (inverter to grid) to prevent costly equipment failures.
How It Works
- When a surge occurs, the SPD provides a low-impedance path to divert excess energy safely to the ground.
- Once the surge is gone, it automatically resets, ensuring continuous system protection.
Key Features
- DC & AC Protection – Available for both PV arrays and grid connections
- IEC 61643-11 Compliant
- Plug-in Replaceable Modules
- Visual Fault Indicators
- High Discharge Capacity (up to 40kA/60kA)
